Big News in Visual Arts!

The following is from Ann Clement, the Executive Director of the Waterworks Visual Arts Center.

It is my great pleasure to announce this year’s Dare To Imagine Award Winner, Eli Helms. Eli is a student of Mr. Mark Riley at Jesse C. Carson High School.

Through a gift from local art patrons Susan and Edward Norvell, this special award honors one Rowan County graduating senior whose artwork most exemplifies the creative potential of the human spirit, heart, and hand. This honor bears a $1,000 cash award and a solo exhibition of selected works at Waterworks Visual Arts Center this summer, May 31-September 3, 2016.

Eli was among eleven entries countywide whose portfolios were reviewed by a panel of jurors in a blind judging process.  His work exhibited the strongest range of artistic sensitivity, skill and technique, originality, composition, and overall quality and presentation.

Additionally, please see the following art pieces that have recently been entered into competition.

This piece is by Chloe Kirkpatrick, and will be entered into the NC Congressional contest.
