What Legacy Will You Leave Behind?

The following blog was written by Ms. Chelsea Wilkinson, a Spanish Teacher at Carson High School. In addition to teaching Spanish, Ms. Wilkinson assists with the National Honor Society.

When I was in high school I remember writing an essay on the definition of a legacy and what legacy I wanted to leave behind. At that time I didn't fully understand the importance of a legacy. However, in my short time at Carson I have learned a lot about the legacy I hope to leave in the minds of all of my students.

Everyone has a teacher they can remember for having a huge impact on their lives. For me, it was my high school Spanish teacher. At Carson I feel sure that students will forever cherish the memories and lessons learned from our special family. Although this is only Carson's 10th year, it has already left a legacy in my heart.

I hope to leave a legacy of love. I love what I do and hope that my students feel that love daily. Everyone always told me not to be a teacher growing up, but I wanted my dreams to become a reality and now they are. I love being able to touch the lives of students and impacting them in a positive light. Teaching is more than a profession, it's a passion.
