What We Love About Carson

The following blog was written by all the staff members you see below.

We say it every time we get the chance, but Carson is a special place. When people ask why it's special, the answer is easy to give: The people! A school is brick and mortar, but the soul of a school is determined by the character of the people who comprise it.

For this week's blog, I asked our teachers why they loved Carson. These were some of there responses. They, along with our students, are what I love most about our amazing school.

Lauren Martin: Every single person in the building has students' best interests at heart. Teachers truly care about their students and their students' success and don't hesitate to reach out to others to get support for his or her students. Great leadership.

David Hord: I love Carson High School for reasons personal and public, selfish and unselfish.  I believe that most of our kids feel themselves in a place where they are respected and safe.  Jesse Carson has been the place where I have experienced my professional growth.  It is the place where I have benefited from the collegiality and congeniality of my colleagues.

Ashlinn Trexler: What I love about Carson is that we are truly a family and people care about one another. When someone needs something there is always somebody else at Carson to pick up and help.

Lauren West: One of the things that I love so much about Carson is the compassion that our students exhibit for each other. Whatever the situation, our students rally around and support one another, and they generally care about the welfare of other students. That is what makes Carson so special.

Lindsey Barrier: What I love about Carson is how we all come together as a family. We help each other out and have each other's backs as well as a shoulder to lean on.
I'm proud to be a cougar!

Bree Stillings: I love the family atmosphere and the pride that students and faculty take in the group.  I love the passion behind all that Carson does.

Jessica Reynolds: I love that I've been at Carson for less than a year and it feels like home. The compassion and support that the staff, students, and community have for one another cannot be described unless you are fortunate enough to experience it firsthand.

Les-lee Efird: What I love about Carson is everyone cares about everyone.  It doesn't matter if you know the student or teacher or not, if someone is hurting everyone feels it. I love that as a unit we can ban together and make things happen.  Lastly, I love that I know i have a second family at Carson who cares and would be there if I ever needed them.

Melanie Miller: I love the positive relationships and connections the teachers have with the students. One example of this is teachers take time to show support to them by attending their sports events, theatre productions, band and choral concerts etc... Students feel comfortable coming to teachers for advice on jobs, colleges, assignments, and friendships. Many times these positive connections continue after the students graduate from Carson.

Allyson Hunter: I love that the staff and students of Carson are so open to embrace each other, no matter what their backgrounds may be.

Alex Reynolds: Carson is a place that allows kids to find a space that makes them excited to be at school. I love the buzz of new seasons, new shows, and new ideas that are always being created. As soon as one idea ends another begins, its a cycle that makes me feel very at home at Carson.

Mark Weavil: I love that Carson is more than just a place to work because we are a strong family and have very strong community support. We are all family.

Chelsea Wilkinson: I love that at Carson we are a family. I know that any staff member I see will greet me with a smile and an open heart. It is then our job to embrace our students as a part of this family, which I think we do a very good job at.

DeAnna Carpenter: When I think about Carson, I think about a place that is more than a school. Carson is a network of staff, students, and teachers who care for one another. We work together to ensure that students receive a great education, but  more importantly, we work to ensure that everyone is included. It is a place of acceptance where we take people for who they are and help them to become what they wish they could be.

Deanna Byrd: What I love about Carson is that everyday I come to a place full of people who love and need me. The best part is that I get to love and need them right back.

Ryan Chandler: I have been at Carson for 8 years now.  This place has become my home.  I love everything about JCHS.  We support each other in everything we do.  It's hard to find that anywhere else.
